Cold Storage Trailer Rentals in Bellevue Straight From the Owner, KryoFridge, Never a Reseller

A rented cold storage trailer earns its keep on the hard day, not the easy one. Anybody can keep an empty box cold in a quiet lot. The real test is a back door that opens every minute or two through a Saturday lunch crowd in Crossroads, while the temperature stays exactly where you set it. Our trailers hold their number through that kind of traffic, where a reach-in or a chest freezer from a big-box store would climb and never catch back up. KryoFridge brings more than 30 years in the rental business and one of the largest refrigerated and freezer trailer fleets in the West. We own every trailer we send. Call us now, or request a quote online, and tell us how often your crew will be in and out of the doors.

One trailer, two modes

Every unit switches between freezer and cooler on a digital set-point. You tell us what you are storing, and we set it before delivery.

Sizes that fit tight Bellevue lots

The 6x8 slips into small service yards downtown, and the 6x12 fits most store lots. The 16' Utility covers the big jobs.

Power you can plan around

Plug into a dedicated circuit at your building or use a generator we bring. We confirm which one before delivery day.

Food-safe inside

Interior surfaces are NSF approved for food contact and drain properly, so the box is ready for proteins and produce from the first load.

Ready for public agency work

We are licensed, insured and registered on SAM.gov, which keeps paperwork simple for schools, cities and county agencies.

A rental family with 30+ years behind it

KryoFridge comes from a long line of family rental businesses. The people who answer your call have spent their careers moving equipment to job sites on time.

What keeps national accounts calling back for Bellevue crews

If the nation's largest chains trust us to protect their inventory, your kitchen is in good hands. These are brands that vet a cold-storage partner the same careful way they vet a food supplier, and they keep calling us back.

What Bellevue-area renters say after the trailer lands

"We rented a 6x12 for the nine days our walk-in was being replaced. Nothing spoiled, and the side door meant my line cooks never had to hold the big doors open."

Jesse J. · kitchen manager, downtown restaurant

"Had one behind the store for two weeks around Thanksgiving to hold turkeys and pie stock. Receiving stopped being a traffic jam."

Kenton P. · store manager, Eastgate grocery

"Big office lunches mean we prep two days early, and our own cooler can't hold that much. The trailer sat right at 36 degrees the whole time, parked where our vans load."

The 16 ft Utility: the cold chain trailer we send when a Bellevue-area job cannot fail

Around Bellevue, the side utility door on the 16' Utility matters most, because a cook in a tight back lot off NE 8th Street can grab one tray without swinging open the big rear doors.

The flagship 16' Utility freezer trailer, plugged-in for rental in Bellevue

The 16' Utility earned its flagship spot the hard way, on jobs where a few degrees of drift would have cost somebody their inventory. The box is 16 feet long and fully insulated, riding on a tandem axle. The interior is NSF approved. One digital set point covers everything from -10°F frozen storage to a 50°F produce cooler. There are two ways in: rear double doors for pallets, and the side utility door for everyday grab-and-go.

Because we own and service the entire fleet, the trailer on your lot was prepped in our yard, not scrambled together after your call. It lives on a dedicated 120V, 20-amp circuit or a generator we supply, and it keeps its temperature whether the job runs a weekend or a full season.

Our Freezer Trailer Rentals Service Area Around Bellevue

We deliver across every Bellevue neighborhood and the Eastside cities around it, from Kirkland and Redmond down to Renton and Newcastle. KryoFridge also rents cold storage trailers in all 50 states, so a company with locations beyond Bellevue can book every site through one team.

Neighborhoods and towns we cover include Downtown Bellevue, Wilburton, BelRed, Spring District, Crossroads, Factoria, Eastgate, Bridle Trails, Somerset, Newport Hills, Lake Hills, West Bellevue, West Lake Sammamish, Cougar Mountain, Lakemont, Overlake, Redmond, Kirkland, Issaquah, Renton, Mercer Island, Newcastle, Sammamish, Clyde Hill.

Communities near the Bellevue area we run refrigeration trailers to

Every part of the Bellevue area rents cold storage for its own reasons. We know each one, and we deliver to all of them.

Downtown Bellevue

The core between NE 4th and NE 12th has the most restaurants and the least room. We time deliveries for early morning and use the 6x8 or 6x12 where a service yard is tight.

Crossroads

International restaurants and grocers around Crossroads Mall carry a lot of specialty frozen stock. Their lots usually have room for a 6x12 near the back door.

Factoria and Eastgate

Big-box stores and supermarkets here have docks and wide lots. This is where the 16' Utility fits best for grocery overflow and holiday stock.

Wilburton, BelRed and the Spring District

New office towers and apartments are still going up, and the streets are wider than downtown. Detours near the Eastrail path can change the delivery route, so we check before every drop.

Bridle Trails and Somerset

Big lots and tall trees mean more storm outages. Small restaurants and markets at the edges of these neighborhoods plan their backup cold storage before winter.

Cougar Mountain and Lakemont

Streets on the south hills are narrow and steep. We ask about grade and turnaround room before we send a trailer up.

One call sizes the trailer, sets the delivery window, and locks your quote for Bellevue. Call now, or send the quick quote request and we will call you.

More Ways Eastside Businesses Use Mobile Cold Storage on Wheels

Most of the calls we get from Bellevue businesses fall into three groups. Some come from a kitchen or a store that just lost power or has a recall to deal with. Others come from restaurants and caterers short on space, or from grocers who need somewhere to put a big delivery. Here is how we plan each one.

A pre-cooled KryoFridge walk-in freezer trailer supporting Utility crew staging after big storms in Bellevue

🚨 Utility crew staging after big storms

Crews that come in to restore power need meals held cold at their staging yards. A trailer on generator power keeps that food safe while the work goes on.

What ties these together is the clock. Nobody budgets a freezer trailer into next quarter. They reach for one the hour a compressor quits, or the evening before a party when the stack of rented ice chests suddenly looks laughably undersized. Since our units sit staged around Bellevue instead of a couple counties down the freeway, "can I get it today" is an ordinary ask here, not a stretch.

What Bellevue-area businesses lose when refrigeration quits

Nothing fancy, Bellevue

Add it up the way an owner in Bellevue has to. One restaurant walk-in routinely sits on a small fortune in proteins, dairy, and prepped product. Scale that to a grocery rack or a warehouse freezer bay and the exposure balloons. Now knock the power or the compressor out on a triple-digit afternoon, and that whole inventory is in jeopardy inside a few hours. Then stack on the sales you lose while the line sits dark and the wages you burn paying staff to triage what can still be saved.

Hold a pre-staged trailer up against that risk and it reads like cheap insurance, a fixed, predictable expense parked in front of a loss with no ceiling. That is exactly why the businesses that got stung once tape our number by the phone. There is never a second scramble, because the next time they dial before the product has a chance to warm. Owning every trailer ourselves means we can scale the answer to fit. A single compact box suits a corner cafe. A clustered setup covers a warehouse floor. Either one is booked with a single call.

Summer Heat Waves and Mobile Refrigeration Rentals in King County

Seattle hit 108°F on June 28, 2021, the hottest day ever recorded there, in a month when highs usually sit in the 70s. The whole region was caught short. Many homes and older commercial buildings around Bellevue were never built with heavy cooling in mind, because they never had to be.

Walk-in condensers tucked into closed back rooms or on sunny rooftops were sized for mild summers. On a 100-degree afternoon they run without a break and can fall behind, and that is when product creeps past 41°F without anyone noticing. Our trailers are built for desert work in the Southwest, so a Puget Sound heat wave sits well inside what they handle.

Recent summers have also brought wildfire smoke and air quality alerts to King County, which makes long outdoor shifts harder on staff at vendor booths. When the National Weather Service in Seattle starts talking about a heat wave, call us early. We set the trailer in shade where we can, keep the condenser clear of walls, and face the doors away from the afternoon sun.

Peak heat in Bellevue, the load a cold chain trailer has to hold against

Storm Outage and Recall Backup With Temporary Cold Storage Rentals

The November 2024 bomb cyclone knocked out power to about 1 million people across western Washington, and more than half a million homes and businesses stayed dark for over a day. Tall firs hang over power lines all through Bridle Trails and Somerset. One strong wind storm can leave a restaurant or a small market without a working walk-in for longer than the food inside can wait.

A temporary cold storage trailer on a generator we supply has its own power, so it keeps holding when the building goes dark. The plan we suggest is to move product before it warms up, not after. A closed walk-in buys you some time if nobody opens the door, but it does not buy you days. King County runs its winter weather response from November through April, and that is the stretch when we tell customers to have a plan on file with us.

A refrigerated trailer on generator power behind a small Eastside market on a gray, windy winter day, fir trees in the background

Recalls are the quieter version of the same problem. When a supplier pulls a product, you have to hold those cases cold and apart from your good stock until the distributor collects them or the credit clears. A trailer gives the pulled product its own locked space at the right temperature. Your walk-in stays clear for the food you can still sell.

The mistake we see most often is waiting too long to call. By the time a kitchen has been dark for six hours, the roads are clogged with downed trees and I-405 is crawling. Pick your trailer spot and your power source with us ahead of the storm season, and the day the lights go out becomes a phone call instead of a scramble. Call now or request a quote to set that up.

Inside Our Portable Freezer Trailer Fleet

We build the fleet in three footprints: a compact 6x8, the everyday 6x12 and our signature 16' Utility. Every one of them is dual purpose. One digital set-point moves the box anywhere from about -10°F for ice cream and frozen protein up to about 50°F for produce and dairy, so you pick freezer or cooler mode on the day of delivery instead of renting two kinds of equipment.

The inside surfaces are NSF approved for food contact, and the floors drain properly, which matters when you wash down at the end of a rental. Rear double doors take pallet loads off a dock. The 16' Utility adds a side door for the quick pulls a kitchen makes all day. Power is simple: a dedicated 120V, 20-amp circuit within about 100 feet, or a generator we bring. We check which one your site has before the truck leaves the yard.

It is the same portable freezer equipment our crews maintain for Santa Clarita refrigerated trailer rentals and every other market we cover, cleaned and checked in-house between jobs. Nothing is handed off to a broker. When you call about a Bellevue rental, you talk to the company that owns the trailer and sends the truck.

Restaurant and Commercial Kitchen Backup With a Walk-In Freezer Trailer

Downtown Bellevue packs about 1,300 businesses and 45,000 workers into a few blocks you can cross on foot, and a lot of those people eat lunch within a short walk of Bellevue Square and Lincoln Square. Kitchens down here are small for the volume they serve. The walk-in holds the proteins, the dairy and the prepped sauces the whole menu depends on. If it fails, the line stops.

Crossroads has its own mix. The international food court and the Chinese regional restaurants that have opened across the city since the 2010s buy a lot of specialty frozen stock, such as dumplings and seafood, from importers who deliver in bulk and not every day. A walk-in freezer trailer behind the building gives those kitchens room to take the full order instead of splitting it.

A walk-in freezer trailer parked behind a downtown restaurant loading door, a cook carrying a sheet pan through the side door

Catering is the other big draw. Large employers like Amazon, T-Mobile and Meta keep big offices in Bellevue, and the caterers who feed their holiday lunches and team events prep days ahead. A commissary cooler sized for normal weeks fills up fast when three big orders land at once. A rented trailer at the loading door carries the overflow until the vans roll.

Walk-in repairs are rarely as quick as the first estimate. Parts get delayed. A compressor swap waits on parts, and a full walk-in replacement can take weeks. We park the trailer as close to the kitchen door as the lot allows and turn the side door toward your staff. Call us or request a quote as soon as the repair gets scheduled.

Grocery and Supermarket Overflow Space in Refrigerated Trailer Rentals

Factoria and Eastgate hold much of the city's big-box shopping, and the area added a large Asian supermarket, T&T, in 2024. Around Crossroads, independent grocers compete on how much fresh and frozen variety they can keep on hand. Back rooms in both areas were not built for that much stock. Space runs out fast.

Holiday weeks are when the space runs out. Thanksgiving turkeys and pie shells show up in bulk, and stores that serve Asian families stock heavily ahead of Lunar New Year. A refrigerated trailer at the dock takes the case stock off the receiving floor, so your team can keep the shelves full without tripping over pallets.

A refrigerated trailer beside a supermarket loading dock in a suburban retail center, a worker moving a pallet of frozen goods

Equipment work creates the same need. When a store replaces display cases or a freezer aisle goes down, that product needs a cold home for days. The rear doors take pallets straight off a dock, and a 6x12 covers most single-aisle resets. Larger stores usually step up to the 16' Utility.

Placement is where grocery rentals go wrong. A trailer set in the wrong spot blocks the delivery truck lane or the cart corral, and then it has to move. We walk the lot with your manager before the drop and pick a spot that keeps the dock open. Call now or request a quote, and we will plan it around your delivery schedule.

A working guide to set points for a walk-in freezer rental near Bellevue

"Cold" is not one number. Different product stays safe inside different temperature windows, which is the entire reason a precise digital set-point matters, and in the middle of a heat wave in Bellevue, a load that slips out of its window is a load you write off. Use the chart below as the reference our customers lean on when they size a rental.

ProductTarget holding bandTrailer mode
Ice cream and frozen desserts-10°F to 0°FDeep freeze
Frozen proteins, seafood, prepared meals0°F or belowFreezer
Fresh meat and poultry (short hold)28°F to 32°FRefrigerated
Dairy, deli, packaged produce34°F to 38°FRefrigerated
Beverages, florals, catering trays38°F to 45°FRefrigerated

One figure matters more than everything in that chart, and it is not listed there: 40°F. Food-safety guidance treats the band between 40°F and 140°F as the zone where bacteria thrive, and the clock on perishable product starts ticking the moment it crosses 40 on the way up. Roughly four cumulative hours above that line and most refrigerated inventory is no longer safe to serve. Picture that countdown running on a 100-degree afternoon in Bellevue with the walk-in dark, and the urgency of a quick trailer drop stops being abstract.

Tell us the single coldest item you are holding when you call, and we dial the trailer to that. One unit carries a straight freezer load with no fuss. When your list mixes deep-freeze desserts with fresh-cold produce for the same remodel or event, we will usually point you toward a split setup or a second box so neither side of the load has to settle for the wrong temperature.

Power and placement for a refrigerated trailer in greater Bellevue

Powering one of our trailers is refreshingly simple, and there are precisely two ways to do it. Either you have a dedicated 120-volt, 20-amp circuit reachable within roughly 100 feet of the parking spot, or we bring a generator. What the units will not accept is standard 208 to 240V building service, so a quick question about your outlet before dispatch heads off any surprise on delivery day.

  • Dedicated outlet on hand? Most Bellevue kitchens and markets already have the right one, so we plug straight in and the unit begins pulling the temperature down.
  • Open lot or event field? A generator keeps the trailer running anywhere, whether that is an event lawn or a warehouse yard.
  • Worried about a shutoff? A unit on a generator keeps your cold chain alive when a storm or a utility outage takes the surrounding grid down.
Power hookup on a KryoFridge dual-purpose freezer and refrigerated trailer placed at a Bellevue property

On placement, all the unit really asks for is a fairly flat patch with enough room for the delivery truck to maneuver it in and set it straight, plus either a power source in reach or space for a generator. We lock down the exact drop point before dispatch, and our drivers know the Bellevue layout cold, so the delivery is one clean trip instead of a guessing game on the property.

A typical portable freezer unit delivery for Bellevue venues, start to finish

Our take, Bellevue

A typical setup for a restaurant swapping out its walk-in compressor

A typical setup for a Crossroads restaurant waiting on a compressor swap looks like this: we confirm the dedicated circuit, bring a 6x12 in cooler mode and set it a few steps from the kitchen door. The trailer comes down to temperature first, and then the staff moves product over in one push. It stays until the repair tech signs off on the walk-in, which often takes longer than the first estimate.

A typical setup for a caterer prepping a large office holiday lunch

A typical setup for a caterer feeding a big downtown office looks like this: the 16' Utility goes in at the commissary a few days before the event in cooler mode. Prepped trays load through the rear doors, and the side door handles quick grabs during the final prep day. We pick it up once the last van leaves for the venue.

A typical setup for a festival organizer sharing cold space among vendors

A typical setup for a downtown summer festival looks like this: one trailer sits behind the vendor row on a generator, with shelves split and labeled by booth. A single person from the organizing team holds the key and opens it at set times each morning and afternoon. Vendors skip the nightly ice runs, and the organizer has one place to show the health inspector.

Delivery windows planned around I-405 and the bridges. I-405 between I-90 and SR 520 carries more than 205,000 vehicle trips a day, and it jams fast. We schedule Bellevue drops around the worst of that traffic, and we plan Mercer Island jobs knowing I-90 is the only way on.

How a walk-in freezer trailer rental in Bellevue actually goes

On a bad day, booking should be the part that does not add stress. Four steps, an upfront number, and a single person who owns the whole thing.

Step 1 · Walk us through the product

Tell us whether it is freezer or fridge product, a ballpark volume, and your rough window. That is enough for us to call the right size.

Step 2 · We size the unit and check the plug

We pair you with a unit, confirm whether you have a dedicated circuit or need a generator, and pin the exact drop point so the truck makes one trip.

Step 3 · Delivery and cold-down

We arrive on your schedule, about 45 minutes for a true emergency, set the trailer, energize it, and let it drive down to your number.

Step 4 · Run the unit, we handle the rest

It holds the set-point for your entire term while our line stays live the whole way through. Wrap up, and we swing back for the pickup.

Washington Food Code Rules for Refrigerated Trailer Storage

Food code basics

Food businesses in Bellevue fall under the Washington State Retail Food Code, WAC 246-215, and Public Health Seattle and King County does the permitting and inspections, since Bellevue does not run a separate health department. Cold food has to be held at 41°F or lower. The code cares about the temperature the food is held at, and a trailer holding 41°F or colder meets that the same way a fixed walk-in does.

Events work under a separate track. King County issues temporary food permits for food service at a single event or celebration running fewer than 21 days, which covers fairs, festivals and farmers markets. County guidance for these events does not allow on-site cooling of hot food, and hot food left over when the event closes gets thrown out. Vendors also need a digital stem thermometer on site, so cold ingredients should arrive already at temperature and stay that way in the trailer.

Placement is a city matter. A trailer on your own private lot is usually a question for your landlord or property manager, but anything set on a public street or sidewalk needs a right-of-way permit from the City of Bellevue. Downtown events such as Snowflake Lane and ARTSfair also go through city special event permits because they close streets. We help you pick a spot that keeps fire lanes and drive aisles clear.

How our freezer trailers hold up in a health inspection in Bellevue

  • NSF-approved interior surfaces built for direct food contact.
  • A digital controller that puts the set-point in plain view for the inspector.
  • Proper drainage and a sealed, food-safe insulated box.
  • Licensed and insured on every unit we put on the road.

One caveat we always state plainly: we supply the food-safe, temperature-holding hardware itself, but we are not a temperature-logging or alarm-monitoring service. If your program requires continuous written records, line that vendor up on your own.

Right-sizing your cold chain trailer the first time near Bellevue

Our signature 16 foot Utility series leads the fleet. It is the trailer we send on most jobs, and crews like it for the side utility access door. We build three footprints in all, so a single kitchen holding overflow stock has a fit and so does a distribution floor in a disaster. Every unit is dual purpose by design: one adjustable system swings between freezer and refrigerator on a digital set point. Each trailer runs on a dedicated circuit or on a generator.

6x16 Utility ⭐Our signature series: distribution, large events, disaster response, side utility doorHeavy-duty reefer
6x12Grocers, caterers, mid-size eventsDeep-freeze capable
6x8Tight lots, small kitchens, short overflow-10°F to 50°F

All three sizes switch between freezer and cooler mode, so the choice comes down to footprint and how much product you need to hold.

6x8, the pick when room is short near Bellevue

It's the unit to grab when square footage is the whole problem. It slips into the pinched service yards and cramped back-of-house corners that a larger box cannot even swing into. One cafe or small-market walk-in goes down, and this is almost always enough cold to cover it, plus the simplest unit to set in a small space.

6x12, the balanced size for most kitchens near Bellevue

Deep-freeze rated, and far and away the size people ask for most. It lands right in the middle: roomy enough for a multi-day catering job or a restaurant that needs true walk-in-equivalent room while the kitchen is torn up. Roomy enough that nobody is playing Tetris with shelves, yet still small enough to set in most commercial back lots without a site survey.

The full-size 6x16, the heavy hauler for distribution and disaster near Bellevue

Our biggest footprint, paired with a heavy-duty reefer plant engineered to keep deep-freeze locked in even when the ambient air is merciless. Reach for it when a warehouse bay drops, when a large festival needs an anchor, or when a relief operation is carrying its own cold chain.

Not sure which size fits? Most customers land on the 16 foot Utility, and we will tell you honestly if a smaller footprint covers your job. Tell us roughly what you are storing and for how long, and we will spec it for you.

Follow-up questions from Bellevue-area renters

The questions that surface once the basics are settled. Tap any topic to open it.

Cold storage trailer, portable walk-in or reefer truck for an event: which one fits

The pop-up walk-in cooler. Cheap to rent and easy to set up, but it chills, it does not freeze, and it draws every watt it needs from your building while depending on a calm ambient temperature around it. The second your building loses power, your cooler loses it too.

The refrigerated box truck. Designed to haul product on the interstate, not to sit in a lot and babysit it. Parked, it burns fuel all day, broadcasts compressor noise across a storefront or an event lawn, and pins down a tractor plus a driver you probably do not need.

The freezer trailer we deliver. Built from the ground up to be dropped on a pad and to defend a temperature for as long as the job runs. It freezes deep, carries NSF approval, locks, stays quiet near guests, and lives on nothing more than one dedicated circuit or a generator.

Food-contact surfaces, drainage and a county inspection

Even a rented box has to satisfy the county environmental health office that licenses and inspects every food facility. Show an inspector a unit that cannot document its temperature or was not built for food contact, and they have the authority to halt service immediately.

That is a bar each of our trailers clears: NSF-approved throughout, food-safe interior surfaces, proper drainage, and a digital controller that puts the set-point in plain view. We supply the food-safe, temperature-holding hardware itself, but we are not a temperature-logging or alarm-monitoring service.

Clustering cold storage trailers for a multi-site job

For a typical kitchen or market, one box does the job. Distribution floors, big fairs, and full-scale disaster response routinely need more, and because the fleet is ours, we can cluster several units and bring them online in waves as the work expands. Match the cold capacity to the operation rather than make the operation squeeze itself into one box.

Picking a rental term for a project of any length

The clock is yours to set. Some jobs are a handful of days for an emergency or a single event. Others stretch across weeks or months for a remodel or a seasonal swell, and a few become standing contracts for businesses that want capacity parked on standby. Name your window and you will get a clean quote, no penalty for an honest "not sure yet."

Why renting usually beats building for a busy grocer

Building permanent cold storage is a capital project in every sense: you hire a refrigeration contractor, schedule the electrical, pull a building permit, and wait weeks before a single pallet goes inside. A rental turns that equation on its head. You bring in precisely the cold you need, for precisely the stretch you need it, and the trailer is holding temperature within days, not months, with the commitment ending the moment your need is over.

Holding temperature through summer sun

Three engineered elements carry the load. Thick insulated panels and tightly gasketed doors lock the sun outside and the cold inside. A self-contained reefer condensing system specified with surplus capacity keeps stripping heat out of the box even when the air outside is brutal. A digital thermostat locks onto your chosen number and cycles the compressor to hold the line. Run those three together and a trailer baking on open asphalt behaves like one tucked in a cool warehouse. That is also why power is the first thing we ask about: the design delivers its safety margin only on steady, uninterrupted power.

What Bellevue renters ask before a walk-in freezer trailer rental

Do your trailers lock if one sits overnight on an open lot in Factoria or downtown?

Yes, the rear doors and the side door both latch and take a padlock, and we suggest a heavy one with the key kept by your closing manager. We set the trailer where your cameras can see it, with the doors facing the building instead of the street. If your lot has a gate or a fence line, we park it inside. Good lighting helps too.

Will a 6x12 hold enough for my restaurant, or do I need the 16 foot trailer?

Start with the walk-in you are replacing. If the trailer is at least as big as that walk-in, you will not be forced to leave product behind. Door traffic matters too. A kitchen that pulls product all day does better with the 16' Utility and its side door. Send us a photo of your walk-in shelves and a rough count of cases or pallets, and we will size it for you.

Can I plug the trailer into my building, or do I need a generator?

You can plug in if you have a dedicated 120V, 20-amp circuit within about 100 feet of where the trailer will sit. It has to be dedicated, not an outlet shared with a kitchen appliance, and the trailers are not wired for 208 or 240 volt service. If you do not have that circuit, or the building has lost power, we bring a generator. Ask your electrician to label the breaker before delivery day so setup goes quickly.

Is a permit needed to park a refrigerated trailer at my Bellevue business?

On your own private lot, the main thing to check is your lease or your property manager's rules, plus fire lanes and drive aisles. Anything on a public street or sidewalk needs a right-of-way permit from the City of Bellevue. For a festival or other short event, the organizer's King County temporary food permit covers the food side. We are glad to walk your site and point out spots that avoid permit trouble.

Where does a short rental end and a long-term rental start with KryoFridge?

Most emergency and event rentals run from a few days to a couple of weeks. Repair and replacement jobs often stretch to a month or more once parts and installers get involved. Seasonal overflow can run all winter. We quote long terms differently than short ones, so tell us your best guess and we will price it to match.

What happens if the trailer stops cooling in the middle of my rental?

Call us right away. We walk you through a quick check of the breaker, the cord and the set-point, since a tripped circuit is the most common cause. If the trailer itself has a problem, we service it or swap it for another unit from our own fleet. Keep the doors shut while you wait, and keep an eye on your own thermometer.

When a King County inspector comes by, what will they check on a rented trailer?

They check the same things they check on a walk-in. Cold food should read 41°F or below, raw product should sit below ready-to-eat food, and nothing should sit on the floor. Ready-to-eat food held more than 24 hours needs a date mark. Keep a stem thermometer and a paper temperature sheet near the side door so the answers are right there.

How far ahead should I book, and how should I prep the spot?

For planned jobs, a week or two ahead gives you the widest choice of sizes, and same-week setup is common when we have the details early. Emergencies get moved to the front of our schedule. We move fast on those. The spot should be level, clear of overhead wires and branches, and long enough for the trailer plus the truck that drops it. If you can, text us a photo of the spot before we come.

Does one trailer hold frozen and chilled product at the same time?

No, each trailer holds one set-point, so it runs as either a freezer or a cooler. If you need both, the usual answer is two smaller trailers, one in each mode. Some kitchens run one trailer as a freezer and use their own reach-ins for the chilled items.

Should I reserve a trailer before storm season, or wait until the power goes out?

Plan ahead. When a big windstorm hits the Eastside, many businesses call at once and the roads get slow. Talk to us in the fall, pick your spot and your power source, and keep our number with your storm plan. When the outage comes, your call starts a delivery we have already planned. KryoFridge is a direct fleet owner, not a reseller, so the trailer you book is one of ours.

What to Have Ready When You Call About a Cold Storage Trailer in Bellevue

The fastest rentals we set up in Bellevue start with a short call where the customer already has a few answers written down. None of this is hard to find. It just saves a second call, and on a day when your walk-in is warming up, that second call costs real time you do not have.

First, know what you are storing. Frozen and chilled product need different set-points, and each trailer holds one set-point at a time. Ice cream and frozen seafood want the cold end of the range, near -10°F. Produce, dairy and prepped sauces want cooler mode in the high 30s. If you have both, say so. The answer may be two smaller trailers instead of one big one, and it is much easier to plan that on the first call than to find out when the truck is already parked.

Booking Around Bellevue's Festival, Holiday and Storm Calendar

Demand for cold storage around Bellevue follows the calendar more than most people expect. If you know your busy weeks, you can book early and get the size you want instead of whatever is left. Here is how the year usually lays out for the businesses we work with on the Eastside.

Summer starts with the Bellevue Strawberry Festival on the fourth weekend of June. The festival came back in 1987 after a long break and grew into a multi-day event in 2003. ARTSfair follows in late July, and the 2026 edition runs July 24 to 26 in downtown Bellevue with more than 350 artists plus food trucks. The Northwest Ukrainian International Festival, one of the largest Ukrainian festivals in the country, adds its own food vendors. Organizers who want a shared trailer behind the vendor row should call a few weeks out.

What Changes the Quote on a Portable Cold Storage Rental in Bellevue

We do not post prices, because two Bellevue jobs that look the same on paper can be priced very differently. Here is what moves a quote up or down, so you can plan a budget and ask good questions of any company you call.

Size comes first. A 6x8 costs less to rent and move than the 16' Utility. Renting too small is the more expensive mistake, though, because a second trailer and a second delivery cost more than sizing up the first time. If you are between sizes, send us a photo of what you need to hold and let us make the call. Mixed loads change the math too. If you need both frozen and chilled space, two small trailers are often the right answer, and that means two deliveries on the quote. One larger trailer in a single mode is simpler to price. We are happy to quote it both ways.

Loading a Rented Freezer Trailer the Food-Safe Way

A rented trailer holds cold very well, but it is not a blast chiller. How you load it decides whether the food stays safe. Most of the problems we see come from loading too early or loading food that is still warm.

Let the trailer reach temperature before anything goes in. After we set and power it, the box needs time to pull down to your set-point. Watch the readout, and start moving product only once it shows the number you asked for. Patience here pays off. In freezer mode that wait is longer, so plan the transfer for after the trailer settles, not the minute the truck pulls away.

Fitting a Trailer Into a Tight Downtown Lot or a Hillside Driveway

Finding the right spot is the part of a Bellevue rental that surprises people most. The trailer itself is easy. Getting it into a crowded downtown service yard or up a steep south-hills street takes planning.

Downtown Bellevue packs a lot of businesses into a small, walkable core, and most of them share loading zones, alleys and garage entrances. We usually schedule downtown drops for early morning, before delivery trucks stack up and before the lunch crowd arrives. Tell us about any time limits on your loading zone and any low overhangs on the way in. Most parking garages are too low for a trailer and the truck that tows it, so plan on a surface spot. Early drops keep things calm.
