Who handles it

Plano's go-to source for refrigerated cold storage rentals

Every business holds product a different way, and we set the unit up for how you actually run yours. That is the gap between a box that is cold and a box that holds. We have been at this for more than 30 years, we own every trailer we send out, and we are licensed and insured with the paperwork big accounts and agencies ask for already on file. National brands keep our number for that reason, and so do one-store Plano businesses. Call now or request a free quote and we will talk through product, temperature and power before you book anything.

Two machines in one box

You are not stuck with a fixed temperature crate. The same trailer runs cooler or freezer, so a booking that starts as produce overflow can flip to hard frozen without a second delivery.

The fleet is ours

We bought these trailers, we service them, and we send our own people with them. That is why we can tell you the actual condition of the unit that is coming instead of reading you a listing.

Three decades of rental miles

This family has been renting equipment for more than 30 years. Long enough to know which parts fail in July, and to carry the spares before anybody asks.

Paperwork already in order

Licensed, insured, and SAM.gov registered for agency work. Procurement teams and national account managers get what they need on the first email.

Brands that cannot take a miss

Quick service chains with drive through lines out the door keep us on speed dial. They do not call twice about a unit that showed up late once.

Staged near the work

Our North Texas trailers sit close to the US-75 and Dallas North Tollway grid, not in another state waiting on a dispatcher. That is the whole reason a same day drop is even possible.

National accounts we keep cold with rental freezer trailers in Plano

The names below have all run our trailers on real jobs. When a brand this size hands you their frozen inventory, they have already checked everything worth checking.

Reviews from the Plano teams we serve

"Our walk in went down on a Thursday with a full seafood case. They had a trailer in our lot that afternoon and we moved everything in one pass. Not one pound lost."

Marcus Delgado · store manager, Coit Road grocery

"We keep their number taped inside the office door now. The unit came pre chilled and already set where we needed it, so we were not sitting there watching a thermometer climb."

Priya Raghavan · pharmacy manager, US-75 corridor

"Procurement asked for insurance certs and a SAM registration before we could issue the PO. They had all of it back to me in one email the same morning. That never happens."

What holds up

A closer look at the refrigerated trailer we send out most in Plano

It gets hot enough here in August to cook a tired compressor, and cold enough in February to split a water line. So we set your temperature before the trailer leaves our yard, then check it again once the unit is spotted on your lot.

The flagship 16' Utility refrigeration trailer, staged for rental in Plano
16' insulated boxRear double doors + side utility third door-10°F to +50°F range120V/20A or generatorTandem axle

When the stakes are real, the 16' Utility is what we send. Sixteen feet of insulated, NSF-approved box on a tandem axle, running one precise digital set-point that covers deep freeze at -10°F all the way up to a 50°F cooler. The rear double doors handle pallet work off a dock, and the side utility door means a cook can pull one tray without letting the heat in.

The trailer that shows up is one of ours, prepped in our own shop, fueled and pre-cooled before it leaves the yard. It takes a dedicated 120V, 20-amp circuit or the generator we provide, and it will hold that set-point through a triple-digit stretch without drama.

Cold storage trailer rentals across Plano and Collin County

Plano covers about 72 square miles and roughly 293,000 residents, layered under a daytime work force that swells the Legacy corridor every weekday. We stage close to that grid, which is why a US-75 drop and a Dallas North Tollway drop get the same delivery window instead of one of them waiting a day.

Neighborhoods and towns we cover include Downtown Plano, Haggard Park, Legacy West, West Plano, East Plano, Willow Bend, Collin Creek, Oak Point, Los Rios, Parker Road corridor, Spring Creek, Custer Road, Coit Road, Preston Road corridor, Frisco, Allen, Richardson, McKinney, The Colony, Carrollton, Addison, Murphy, Wylie, Garland.

Communities near Plano we run refrigerated trailers to

From the busiest commercial corridors to the quietest side streets, these are the Plano area communities we serve every week.

Legacy and West Plano

The 240 acre Legacy West development at 5905 Legacy Drive packs retail, restaurants, a food hall, more than 1,300 residences and a 303 room hotel into one district. Deliveries here route through service corridors and garages, not street front spaces, so we confirm the dock and the clearance before the truck rolls.

Downtown Plano and Haggard Park

The civic and arts core carries most of the city's outdoor festival calendar, including the Plano International Festival each October. Street closures and open lot staging make this the easiest part of town to spot a trailer, as long as the power plan is settled early.

Collin Creek and central Plano

The old mall site at US-75 and Alma Drive is a 100 acre construction zone with 300,000 square feet of retail going up. Access rules change by phase here, so we coordinate with the site contractor rather than guessing at a gate.

East Plano and the US-75 corridor

Older light commercial and industrial buildings sit along Central Expressway, with tight rear lots and shared dumpster alleys. We bring the smaller footprint here and back in rather than asking a tenant to give up half their parking.

Custer Road and Coit Road

This is the independent grocery and restaurant spine of the city, full of single location businesses without a backup walk in anywhere. Most of our emergency calls in Plano come off these two roads.

Oak Point and north Plano

Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve covers roughly 800 acres from Parker Road to Chaparral Road, and its Redtail Pavilion hosts the biggest outdoor event of the fall. Open ground, soft shoulders, long walks from the nearest outlet. We plan generator placement here every time.

One call sizes the trailer, sets the delivery window, and locks your quote for Plano. Call now, or send the quick quote request and we will call you.

More jobs our temporary cold storage rentals handle near Plano

A trailer lands here for plenty of reasons. But these three fill most of our Collin County calendar, and each one carries its own local shape.

A staged KryoFridge portable refrigeration unit supporting Storm weeks in Collin County in Plano

🏭 Storm weeks in Collin County

A single severe weather line can knock out power to several customers on the same corridor at once. We hold units back during those weeks instead of booking every trailer out.

What ties these together is the clock. Nobody budgets a freezer trailer into next quarter. They reach for one the hour a compressor quits, or the evening before a party when the stack of rented ice chests suddenly looks laughably undersized. Since our units sit staged around Plano instead of a couple counties down the freeway, "can I get it today" is an ordinary ask here, not a stretch.

Adding up the cost of lost product for Plano clients

Useful context

Add it up the way an owner in Plano has to. One restaurant walk-in routinely sits on a small fortune in proteins, dairy, and prepped product. Scale that to a grocery rack or a warehouse freezer bay and the exposure balloons. Now knock the power or the compressor out on a triple-digit afternoon, and that whole inventory is in jeopardy inside a few hours. Then stack on the sales you lose while the line sits dark and the wages you burn paying staff to triage what can still be saved.

Hold a pre-staged trailer up against that risk and it reads like cheap insurance, a fixed, predictable expense parked in front of a loss with no ceiling. That is exactly why the businesses that got stung once tape our number by the phone. There is never a second scramble, because the next time they dial before the product has a chance to warm. Owning every trailer ourselves means we can scale the answer to fit. A single compact box suits a corner cafe. A clustered setup covers a warehouse floor. Either turns around the same day.

How North Texas weather takes out cold storage in Plano

Plano sits in humid subtropical country, and the record book shows the range. The hottest reading on the books is 118 degrees, set in 1936. The coldest is 7 below zero, in 1930. That is a 125 degree spread in one city. Long stretches of triple digit heat are the quiet killer for commercial refrigeration, because a walk in that was marginal in April gives up in August, right when a kitchen is pushing the most perishable product it will move all year.

Then there is the wind. Within 25 miles of Plano, 158 tornadoes have been documented since 1950, including 25 rated EF2, nine rated EF3 and one that reached EF4. The December 26, 2015 outbreak killed 10 people in the eastern Dallas suburbs and cost roughly 1.2 billion dollars in insured losses. An April 2023 outbreak put Collin County under shelter in place orders. Storms like that do not take out one building. They take out a feeder, and every grocery, clinic and restaurant on it.

February 2021 is still the reference point everybody here uses. Winter Storm Uri knocked out power to nearly 4.5 million Texas homes, triggered 322 boil water notices statewide, and left at least 146 people dead, most of them from hypothermia. Total damage came in near 195 billion dollars. Plenty of businesses in this region rebuilt their emergency plan around that week. A rented cold unit that can take a generator is a big part of what those plans now say.

Hot afternoon heat over Plano, the climate that strains a dual-purpose freezer and refrigerated trailer

Refrigerated trailer rentals for Plano pharmacies and clinics

Most medicine that has to stay cold lives between 36 and 46 degrees. Vaccines, insulin, biologics, lab samples. That is a narrow window, and the small under counter fridge holding it was never built to survive a long outage. Plano is thick with retail pharmacy counters inside grocery stores along Coit Road and Legacy Drive, plus medical offices strung along US-75 between 15th Street and Parker Road. When the power drops on that corridor, it rarely drops for one building.

We keep the answer boring. A unit gets pre chilled at our yard, dialed to the middle of that range, and delivered with the door closed until you are ready to load. Then you move product in one pass. The thing that ruins a pharmacy hold is not heat, it is people opening the door eleven times to check on it. We tell customers that on the phone before we ever hitch up.

A KryoFridge refrigerated trailer parked beside a pharmacy loading door at dusk, staff wheeling sealed totes toward the open rear

The other mistake we see is ice. A pharmacy team in a panic packs coolers with bagged ice and dry ice, and half the inventory comes out frozen solid and unusable. Frozen is not the same as cold. A dialed trailer sitting at 40 degrees does not swing, and it does not need somebody babysitting it through the night.

We also plan for the second failure. If the outage is regional and the building has no power for your circuit, the generator comes with the trailer instead of after it. Clinics and pharmacy managers in Collin County have learned to ask that question up front, and it is the right question. Call us before storm season and we will put your site details on file so the next call takes two minutes.

One trailer, cooler or freezer, set to your number

Every KryoFridge unit adjusts from about 50 degrees down to negative 10. That means the same box holding a produce order at 38 this week can run hard frozen for a caterer next month. You dial the temperature setting on a digital control and the unit holds it. The trailer is a self-contained system, refrigeration and flooring built into the same unit, so it does not lean on your building for anything. The inside is built for food contact, the floor takes a pallet jack, and we clean and stage each trailer before it ever leaves for your site. No mystery smell, no last tenant's spill.

We are the same company in every market we work. The crews behind our Tempe freezer trailer rentals in Arizona and our St. George cold storage trailer rentals in Utah work off the same checklist we use here in Collin County. We own the fleet. Nobody hands your booking to a broker who has never laid eyes on the unit, and nobody trucks a trailer in from two states away after you call, because we stage ours close to the work.

Power stays simple on purpose. Either a generator we bring and fuel, or a dedicated 120 volt, 20 amp circuit within 100 feet of the trailer. Not 208 to 240 volt service. If your lot only has that, plan on the generator and we will size it before delivery day. We walk the spot with you first, so nobody is dragging an extension cord across a parking aisle at six in the morning.

Walk-in freezer trailer rentals for seafood and produce distribution

Plano carries one of the largest Chinese American communities in Texas, and the grocery and restaurant corridor that grew with it runs along Legacy Drive, Custer Road and Coit Road. Those stores move real volume in fresh fish, shellfish and greens. Many are independently owned, with one walk in and no spare. A compressor quits on a Thursday and there is nowhere to put four pallets of product. That is our phone call.

Seasonal spikes are the other half of it. Lunar New Year clears a seafood case faster than any week of the year, and the Otsukimi moon viewing weekend at Haggard Park in late September pulls a wave of bakery and specialty orders through the same small back rooms. Stores that plan ahead book a second cold box for the run up instead of stacking crates in a hallway and hoping.

A KryoFridge trailer backed up to an independent grocery loading bay, pallets of boxed produce and iced seafood staged beside it

The Plano Farmers Market at Berkeley Square runs Saturdays from late August into the middle of October, ten in the morning to two in the afternoon. Produce growers and meat vendors show up with van coolers and no backup at all. One warm Saturday with a bad fan and a vendor loses the day. We stage a shared unit on the lot for market organizers who would rather not find out.

Loading needs real care with produce. Cold air falls, so we tell crews to leave a gap under the pallets and keep the return vent clear instead of packing the box wall to wall. Hard frozen protein goes to the back. Anything moving in and out all day goes near the door. Small stuff. It is the difference between steady temperature and a unit fighting itself for three days.

Portable cold storage rentals for Plano breweries and wine events

Legacy Hall put more than two dozen kitchens and the Unlawful Assembly Brewing Company under one 55,000 square foot roof. That is a lot of cold storage sharing one building's systems. A brewery pushing a seasonal release, or a hall wide event weekend, can eat the shared keg space in an afternoon. We park a unit at the service side and let the beer sit at 38 until it is tapped.

The Plano Food and Wine Festival lands at Legacy West on November 7, with more than 100 wines pouring. Event teams working that kind of list need somewhere to bring bottles down to service temperature and hold them there, out of a delivery van and out of the sun. Our dial tops out near 50 degrees, so a wine hold sits at the cool end of the range rather than a cellar setting. We say that plainly instead of letting somebody find out on site.

A KryoFridge trailer staged behind an outdoor beer garden at golden hour, kegs on a dolly rolling toward the open door

Downtown beer gardens are their own animal. Haggard Park festivals run on street closures and open lot staging, which is easy trailer territory, but the power situation changes block to block. We confirm whether you have a dedicated circuit or need the generator two weeks out, not the morning of load in.

We do the same work behind our Indio mobile refrigeration rentals out in the California desert, where a beverage tent can drain a pallet of kegs before noon. Different city, same math. Count your peak hour, not your average, then add a day of buffer for the load that shows up late.

What we hold a cold chain trailer at, load by load in Plano

"Cold" is not one number. Different product stays safe inside different temperature windows, which is the entire reason a precise digital set-point matters, and in the middle of a heat wave in Plano, a load that slips out of its window is a load you write off. Use the chart below as the reference our customers lean on when they size a rental.

ProductTarget holding bandTrailer mode
Ice cream and frozen desserts-10°F to 0°FDeep freeze
Frozen proteins, seafood, prepared meals0°F or belowFreezer
Fresh meat and poultry (short hold)28°F to 32°FRefrigerated
Dairy, deli, packaged produce34°F to 38°FRefrigerated
Beverages, florals, catering trays38°F to 45°FRefrigerated

One figure matters more than everything in that chart, and it is not listed there: 40°F. Food-safety guidance treats the band between 40°F and 140°F as the zone where bacteria thrive, and the clock on perishable product starts ticking the moment it crosses 40 on the way up. Roughly four cumulative hours above that line and most refrigerated inventory is no longer safe to serve. Picture that countdown running on a 100-degree afternoon in Plano with the walk-in dark, and the urgency of a quick trailer drop stops being abstract.

Tell us the single coldest item you are holding when you call, and we dial the trailer to that. One unit carries a straight freezer load with no fuss. But when your list mixes deep-freeze desserts with fresh-cold produce for the same remodel or event, we will usually point you toward a split setup or a second box so neither side of the load has to settle for the wrong temperature.

What a freezer trailer needs once it lands on a Plano site

Powering one of our trailers is refreshingly simple, and there are precisely two ways to do it. Either you have a dedicated 120-volt, 20-amp circuit reachable within roughly 100 feet of the parking spot, or we bring a generator. What the units will not accept is standard 208 to 240V building service, so a quick question about your outlet before dispatch heads off any surprise on delivery day.

  • Dedicated outlet on hand? Most Plano kitchens and markets already have the right one, so we plug straight in and the unit begins pulling the temperature down.
  • Open lot or event field? A generator keeps the trailer running anywhere, whether that is an event lawn or a warehouse yard.
  • Worried about a shutoff? A unit on a generator keeps your cold chain alive when a storm or a utility outage takes the surrounding grid down.
A KryoFridge mobile cold storage unit running on a portable generator on a Plano jobsite

On placement, all the unit really asks for is a fairly flat patch with enough room for the delivery truck to maneuver it in and set it straight, plus either a power source in reach or space for a generator. We lock down the exact drop point before dispatch, and our drivers know the Plano layout cold, so the delivery is one clean trip instead of a guessing game on the property.

Where our portable freezer unit earned its keep near Plano

Worth a minute

Corporate dining vendor, Legacy corridor

A campus kitchen lost its freezer compressor on a Tuesday morning with a full week of catered meetings on the books. We had a unit spotted in the service drive by early afternoon and left it four weeks while the replacement part crawled through backorder. Nothing got tossed.

Market vendor, downtown Plano

A weekend booth ran three coolers and a lot of optimism. Saturday hit 99 degrees. So we dropped a small unit on the lot Friday night, and the vendor kept product through both days instead of dumping meat at noon on day two.

Jobsite superintendent, Collin Creek

Crew meals for a large site were coming off the back of a pickup in the middle of a Texas summer. Not workable. We set a trailer near the gate with a generator, and the meal program went from a daily scramble to a non issue for the rest of the phase.

Built for a city that keeps adding kitchens. The Parks at Legacy West broke ground in June 2026 on the old JCPenney headquarters site with 261 high rise residences, and the Dallas Stars have a practice and arena facility headed here for 2031. Every one of those projects brings more dining, more catering and more cold storage demand. We sized our North Texas stock for what is coming, not for what was here five years ago.

Booking a refrigerated trailer: what happens after you call in Plano

On a bad day, booking should be the part that does not add stress. Four steps, an upfront number, and a single person who owns the whole thing.

Step 1 · Start with the product

Tell us whether it is freezer or fridge product, a ballpark volume, and your rough window. That is enough for us to call the right size.

Step 2 · We size the unit and check the plug

We pair you with a unit, confirm whether you have a dedicated circuit or need a generator, and pin the exact drop point so the truck makes one trip.

Step 3 · It arrives and starts pulling temperature

We arrive on your schedule, about 45 minutes for a true emergency, set the trailer, energize it, and let it drive down to your number.

Step 4 · Keep it running, we are one call away

It holds the set-point for your entire term while our line stays live the whole way through. Wrap up, and we swing back for the pickup.

Texas food rules every refrigerated trailer rental in Plano has to meet

What actually applies

Collin County regulates food service under the Texas Food Establishment Rules, Chapter 228 of the Texas Health and Safety Code. Under those rules, cold food that needs time and temperature control has to be held at 41 degrees or below, and ready to eat items held at that line get a maximum of seven days, counting the prep day as day one. That 41 degree number is the first thing an inspector checks. Every unit we rent is set to hold it with room to spare, because a trailer that only just makes the line on a mild morning will not make it at three in the afternoon in July.

Temporary events carry their own permit layer. Collin County issues a short term event food permit good for no more than 14 days at a single location, and applications are due at least five business days before you open. The state health department issues its own temporary permits for events outside a local health authority, also capped at 14 consecutive days, and asks for applications 30 days ahead. Texas also requires at least one certified food protection manager with supervisory authority on staff. If you are a first time booth vendor, that requirement applies to you the same as it applies to a restaurant.

Then there is power and fire. Plano's Fire Marshal's Office at 972-941-5261 and Building Inspections at 972-941-7140 handle generator and electrical permitting, and a commercial temporary generator setup in Texas generally needs an electrical permit. A unit that takes a dedicated 120 volt, 20 amp circuit skips that step entirely for most customers, which is one reason we ask about your outlet first. We hold the same setup discipline behind our Santa Clarita refrigerated trailer rentals in California, where the agencies are different and the physics are not.

What our mobile cold storage units bring to a food-safety check in Plano

  • NSF-approved interior surfaces built for direct food contact.
  • A digital controller that puts the set-point in plain view for the inspector.
  • Proper drainage and a sealed, food-safe insulated box.
  • Licensed and insured on every unit we put on the road.

One caveat we always state plainly: we supply the food-safe, temperature-holding hardware itself, but we are not a temperature-logging or alarm-monitoring service. If your program requires continuous written records, line that vendor up on your own.

Which refrigerated trailer size fits the job in Plano

Our signature 16 foot Utility series leads the fleet. It is the trailer we send on most jobs, and crews like it for the side utility access door. We build three footprints in all, so a single kitchen holding overflow stock has a fit and so does a distribution floor in a disaster. Every unit is dual purpose by design: one adjustable system swings between freezer and refrigerator on a digital set point. Each trailer runs on a dedicated circuit or on a generator.

Each unit holds a precise digital set-point and runs on a dedicated 120V/20A circuit or a generator.

6x8, the pick when room is short in Plano

Think eight or so pallet spots, and the unit to grab when square footage is the whole problem. It slips into the pinched service yards and cramped back-of-house corners that a larger box cannot even swing into. One cafe or small-market walk-in goes down, and this is almost always enough cold to cover it, plus the simplest unit to set in a small space.

6x12, the balanced size for most kitchens in Plano

Call it fourteen pallet spots, deep-freeze rated, and far and away the size people ask for most. It lands right in the middle: roomy enough for a multi-day catering job or a restaurant that needs true walk-in-equivalent room while the kitchen is torn up. Roomy enough that nobody is playing Tetris with shelves, yet still small enough to set in most commercial back lots without a site survey.

Our 6x16: the largest unit we run in Plano

Roughly twenty pallet spots paired with a heavy-duty reefer plant engineered to keep deep-freeze locked in even when the ambient air is merciless. Reach for it when a warehouse bay drops, when a large festival needs an anchor, or when a relief operation is carrying its own cold chain.

Not sure which size fits? Most customers land on the 16 foot Utility, and we will tell you honestly if a smaller footprint covers your job. Tell us roughly what you are storing and for how long, and we will spec it for you.

Follow-up questions from Plano customers

The questions that surface once the basics are settled. Tap any topic to open it.

Freezer trailer vs. reefer truck vs. portable walk-in, for a Plano kitchen

The pop-up walk-in cooler. Cheap to rent and easy to set up, but it chills, it does not freeze, and it draws every watt it needs from your building while depending on a calm ambient temperature around it. The second your building loses power, your cooler loses it too.

The refrigerated box truck. Designed to haul product on the interstate, not to sit in a lot and babysit it. Parked, it burns fuel all day, broadcasts compressor noise across a storefront or an event lawn, and pins down a tractor plus a driver you probably do not need.

The freezer trailer we deliver. Built from the ground up to be dropped on a pad and to defend a temperature for as long as the job runs. It freezes deep, carries NSF approval, locks, stays quiet near guests, and lives on nothing more than one dedicated circuit or a generator.

Food-safe construction and a county inspection in Plano

Even a rented box has to satisfy the county environmental health office that licenses and inspects every food facility. Show an inspector a unit that cannot document its temperature or was not built for food contact, and they have the authority to halt service immediately.

That is a bar each of our trailers clears: NSF-approved throughout, food-safe interior surfaces, proper drainage, and a digital controller that puts the set-point in plain view. We supply the food-safe, temperature-holding hardware itself, but we are not a temperature-logging or alarm-monitoring service.

Multi-trailer setups for a second loading dock in Plano

For a typical kitchen or market, one box does the job. Distribution floors, big fairs, and full-scale disaster response routinely need more, and because the fleet is ours, we can cluster several units and bring them online in waves as the work expands. Match the cold capacity to the operation rather than make the operation squeeze itself into one box.

Short-term emergency or contract storage for an open-ended need?

The clock is yours to set. Some jobs are a handful of days for an emergency or a single event. Others stretch across weeks or months for a remodel or a seasonal swell, and a few become standing contracts for businesses that want capacity parked on standby. Name your window and you will get a clean quote, no penalty for an honest "not sure yet."

Permanent walk-in or rented trailer for an expanding operation in Plano

Building permanent cold storage is a capital project in every sense: you hire a refrigeration contractor, schedule the electrical, pull a building permit, and wait weeks before a single pallet goes inside. A rental turns that equation on its head. You bring in precisely the cold you need, for precisely the stretch you need it, and the trailer is holding temperature that same week, frequently that same day, with the commitment ending the moment your need is over.

Why the set point stays put in the hottest week of the year in Plano

Three engineered elements carry the load. Thick insulated panels and tightly gasketed doors lock the sun outside and the cold inside. A self-contained reefer condensing system specified with surplus capacity keeps stripping heat out of the box even when the air outside is brutal. And a digital thermostat locks onto your chosen number and cycles the compressor to hold the line. Run those three together and a trailer baking on open asphalt behaves like one tucked in a cool warehouse. That is also why power is the first thing we ask about: the design delivers its safety margin only on steady, uninterrupted power.

"Their crew told me to keep the return vent clear and stack off the floor. Small advice, but our temperature stayed flat the whole two weeks instead of bouncing around like it did with the last company we used."

Sandra Meeks · produce buyer, Custer Road market

"Remodel week. The freezer trailer was the only reason we did not have to close."

Trevor Nakashima · restaurant owner, downtown Plano

"A storm took our block out and we had product that could not sit. They came with the generator already on the trailer instead of making a second trip for it. That call saved us."

Renee Abbott · clinic administrator, west Plano

"We ran one of their units next to the job trailer all summer for crew food. It took the heat without complaining and the service visits were on time. Easy to work with, and the driver actually knew how to spot a trailer on a tight pad."

Bill Ostrowski · site superintendent, central Plano

"Lunar New Year week is our biggest of the year and our back room is small. We book a second cold box now every January. Worth every bit of it."

Ji-Woo Han · grocery owner, Legacy Drive

"They walked the lot with me two weeks before load in and sorted out the power question early. On event day the trailer was already in place when my vendors rolled up."

Carla Ruiz · event producer, Haggard Park festivals

"Convention week doubled our volume and our walk in did not get any bigger. Their unit absorbed the whole overflow and the pickup was as painless as the drop."

Nate Bergstrom · banquet chef, tollway hotel

What Plano clients ask before a freezer trailer rental

When can you get a refrigerated trailer to my Plano lot, and what do I need ready before it arrives?

Often the same day when we have a unit staged nearby, and next day for most planned bookings. What we need from you is a flat, firm spot with room for a truck to swing in and back out, plus about four feet of clearance at the rear door so it opens all the way. Tell us whether you have a dedicated outlet or need our generator. If the drop is on the Legacy corridor, confirm the service drive and any dock height with your building before we roll, because those lots are built around garages rather than open loading space.

How does the power work, an outlet or a generator?

One of two ways, and nothing else. Either a dedicated 120 volt, 20 amp circuit within 100 feet of the trailer, or a generator that we bring and fuel. We are not set up for 208 to 240 volt service. Most Plano restaurants and grocery lots have the circuit we need, but shared retail centers often do not have one that is truly dedicated, and a shared circuit tripping at 2 a.m. is how product gets lost. We check that with you before delivery day rather than after.

Do you have a trailer that can run frozen and refrigerated at the same time?

Not in one box. Each unit holds one temperature setting across the whole interior, anywhere from about 50 degrees down to negative 10. If you need frozen protein and fresh produce at the same time, the honest answer is two units, and that is what we recommend. Some customers split it another way by running the trailer frozen and keeping fresh items in the building's remaining cooler space. We will help you work out which split costs you less hassle.

Will the trailer be clean enough for food contact when it shows up?

Yes. Every unit gets washed out and staged before it leaves our yard, and interior surfaces are built for food contact, not raw wood or bare metal. You should still do your own wipe down before loading, the same as you would with any equipment coming onto your site, and your own sanitation schedule still applies while you have it. If something about the condition is not right when it lands, tell the driver before he leaves and we will handle it right there.

Can I put the trailer anywhere on my property, or do I need a permit in Plano?

On private property with the owner's permission, a temporary cold unit generally sits without a special permit, which is one of the reasons this works so well for a fast swap. The thing that draws permitting is usually the generator. Plano's Building Inspections Department at 972-941-7140 handles electrical permitting, and a commercial temporary generator setup typically needs one. If you can give us a dedicated outlet, that question usually goes away. For anything sitting on a street, a park or a public lot, the event or venue coordinator will have a placement process you need to clear first.

Is the trailer secure if it has to sit on an open lot overnight?

The rear door locks, and you hold the key for the length of the rental. We recommend parking it where your existing cameras already look, with the door end facing a wall or a fence so nobody can swing it open out of sight. Plenty of customers add their own padlock on top of ours. On active construction sites we usually place the unit inside the fence line near the gate, which solves security and crew access at the same time.

Where does a short rental end and a long term cold storage trailer rental begin?

There is no hard cutoff. A lot of our bookings here run a weekend or a couple of weeks, covering an emergency, a market, or a remodel. Past a month we move to a month to month agreement, which is what construction phases, permit delays and long equipment backorders usually need. We have left units on Collin County sites for the better part of a year. Tell us your realistic timeline and we will build the agreement so an extension does not turn into a new negotiation.

What does a health inspector look for if my rented unit is part of the operation?

Temperature first, then access to it. They want to see the cold holding line met and a working thermometer they can read, and they want the unit treated as part of your food operation rather than as storage in a parking lot. Keep raw product below ready to eat product, keep everything off the floor, and keep your own temperature log the way you would for any cooler in the building. We do not provide a monitoring or logging service, so that log is yours to keep. Customers who run it that way get through an inspection without a conversation.

What happens if a storm knocks out power across our whole part of Collin County?

That is the scenario we plan our fleet around, and it is why we hold units back during severe weather weeks instead of booking every trailer out. If your building has no power at all, the generator comes attached to the booking, not as a follow up trip. Call the moment you know the outage is going to last, not after you have already lost a few hours, because a regional event means several businesses on the same corridor are dialing at once.

Can you handle a booth at one of the big Plano festivals, or just brick and mortar sites?

Both. Downtown festival lots and the Oak Point Park grounds are straightforward trailer territory, since they run on street closures and open staging rather than tight docks. What changes at a park is power, because the nearest usable outlet can be a long walk from where your booth actually sits. We look at that with you two weeks out and bring a generator if the run is too far. Vendors should also have their temporary food permit sorted well before load in day.

Do you deliver outside Plano to Frisco, Allen or Richardson?

Every week. Those three border us directly, so none of them require crossing another city to reach from our staging point, and the tollway grid usually makes it a 15 to 20 minute run. We do ask about timing on longer drops, because a mid afternoon delivery down US-75 through the Telecom Corridor will take noticeably longer than the same trip at ten in the morning. We build the window around that instead of pretending traffic does not exist.

How to size a portable cold storage rental for a Plano kitchen or event

Sizing a rental comes down to two numbers, and neither of them is trailer length. How much product do you need to hold at one time, and how often will somebody open the door. Get those right and the rest of the decision makes itself.

Start with pallets, not boxes. Walk your walk in and count what is actually in there on your busiest day, then convert it to pallet positions. Most kitchens are surprised. A back room that feels full often holds four or five pallets worth of product, while a grocery seafood and produce operation running a holiday week can push past a dozen. If you are replacing a failed walk in one for one, measure the interior of the old box and work from that.

What to ask before you book a refrigerated trailer rental in Collin County

Most people rent one of these for the first time on the worst day of their month. The questions below are the ones worth asking anyway, and they take about four minutes on the phone.

Ask who owns the trailer. A lot of the results you find online are brokers who take your deposit and then go shopping for a unit. You will not know what is coming until it lands, and if something goes wrong mid rental you are calling someone who cannot fix it. Ask directly: is this your equipment, and who services it.

Booking cold storage trailer rentals around Plano's fall festival season

Fall is the busiest stretch of the year for outdoor food events in this city, and it is compressed. From the middle of September through the middle of November, the calendar barely takes a breath.

The anchor is the balloon festival at Oak Point Park and the Redtail Pavilion, September 17 to 20 in 2026, with more than 35 hot air balloons and hours that run from five in the evening Thursday to a six in the morning start on Saturday. That schedule is the part vendors underestimate. A Saturday that opens before dawn means your cold storage has to be loaded and holding Friday night, not Saturday morning.

What changes the cost of a temporary cold storage rental in Plano

We do not publish rates, because a rental that fits your job is built from a handful of variables and any number on a web page would be a guess. But you should understand what moves the figure, so you can control the parts you can control.

Duration is the biggest lever, and not in a straight line. A three day emergency rental and a three month construction booking are priced on different logic entirely. If there is any chance your timeline slips, say so at booking. Extending an existing agreement is almost always cheaper than a fresh short term rental tacked onto the end.

Walk-in repair or a portable freezer trailer rental: how Plano kitchens decide

Your walk in just quit. You have two calls to make and only one of them solves today. Here is how to think about the order.

Call the refrigeration tech first, always. But ask one specific question when you do: is the part on your truck. In this region a common compressor or a control board might be same day, while anything specialty can sit on backorder for weeks. That single answer tells you whether this is a repair problem or a storage problem.
