About KryoFridge Salt Lake City Trailers
Portable Refrigeration That Holds in High-Desert Heat
KryoFridge Salt Lake City runs mobile refrigeration trailers built to keep product cold when the valley pushes past 100°F in July. Every unit is NSF approved, so you stay compliant with food safety and sanitation standards whether you’re backing up a Main Street kitchen or staging vendor product at the Utah State Fairpark. The trailers use one-piece fiberglass construction with 4-inch insulated walls and keg-duty floors that take heavy pallet loads without flinching.
You pick the size that fits the job: 6’x8′, 6’x12′, or 6’x16′. Each one adjusts from 0 degrees Fahrenheit up to 50 degrees, so the same trailer runs as a freezer for ice cream and proteins or as a walk-in cooler for produce, flowers, and beverages. That range is why a single unit covers a 9th & 9th restaurant overflow in summer and a frozen holiday-inventory backup in December.
We’re the same crew the West Coast’s biggest brands lean on for portable refrigeration. KryoFridge is the top mobile cold storage partner across the West, trusted by McDonald’s, Chick-Fil-A, Dutch Bros, Maverik, Pom Wonderful, Valley Children’s Hospital, and Burger King. Catering a reception in Sugar House, backing up a grocery dock in West Valley City, or holding location catering for a Utah film shoot, we’ve got a unit that fits and a driver who shows up on time.

Testimonials
Kryofridge Salt Lake City Raving Fans
Our walk-in compressor seized on a Friday in the middle of a 99-degree stretch, and we had a full weekend of covers booked downtown. I called KryoFridge that afternoon and a 6'x12' was in our alley off Main Street by morning. It held a flat 35 degrees the whole weekend with the back door opening every few minutes. The driver set it up, showed my line cooks the controls, and checked back the next day. We never tossed a case of product. These folks understand how a downtown kitchen actually runs.

Grocery Operations Manager, Salt Lake City
One of our refrigeration racks went down during a July heat wave and we were staring at a backroom full of dairy and frozen with nowhere to put it. KryoFridge had a 6'x16' freezer trailer to our West Valley City store within a couple hours and it pulled down to 0 and held. No drama, no spoiled inventory. They saved us a five-figure loss and the rate was exactly what they quoted on the phone. They're our go-to now whenever a case or a rack acts up.

Catering Owner, Salt Lake City
We staged a 400-guest wedding at a Wasatch Front venue with almost no built-in cold storage, and the cake plus all the proteins had to stay cold through a hot afternoon. KryoFridge dropped a 6'x16' at the service entrance and it kept everything exactly where the chef needed it. The trailer was spotless and quiet enough that it never competed with the toasts. Honest pricing, real people answering the phone, and they showed up early. We've already booked them for two more events this fall.

Salt Lake City burns through cold storage in ways most metros don’t. Downtown runs a dense restaurant corridor along Main Street, the 9th & 9th district, and Sugar House. The Salt Palace Convention Center anchors Utah’s largest trade-show calendar. Smith’s Food & Drug keeps its corporate headquarters here and runs 132 stores across seven Western states. When any of that cold chain hits a gap, a KryoFridge trailer fills it. Here’s who calls us across Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Sandy, West Jordan, Murray, and South Salt Lake, and why.
Restaurants and downtown kitchens
The Main Street dining core, 9th & 9th, and Sugar House run on commercial walk-ins that fail, get pulled during remodels, or run short during a busy stretch. A seized compressor or a leaking refrigerant line can keep a box down for days while parts come in. We back-stop that. A 6’x8′ or 6’x12′ in the loading area or alley keeps a kitchen open and serving while the built-in unit gets repaired or replaced. The airport-adjacent hotel cluster and Wasatch Front resort kitchens hit the same gaps during renovations and peak banquet weeks.
Conventions and trade shows
The Salt Palace Convention Center sits on West Temple downtown and hosts Utah’s biggest expos and trade shows, with in-house catering ordering and a dedicated catering line. At convention scale, even a large fixed kitchen runs short on cold holding. Exhibitors and caterers rent our trailers to stage perishables for multi-day shows without crowding the in-house coolers. There’s a timing angle too: Salt Lake County plans to close the Salt Palace in fall 2027 for a multi-year redevelopment, so the venue is running at full event tempo through 2026 and 2027, and that surge demand is real right now.
Grocery and cold-chain
Smith’s Food & Drug, the Kroger banner headquartered in Salt Lake City, runs 132 stores across Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. Harmons Grocery operates 21 Utah stores. Store-level walk-in and case failures, remodels, and seasonal overflow all push perishables to backup reefer trailers. Think holiday turkeys and hams in November, ice cream and produce in a 100-degree July, and distribution-warehouse overflow during peak inventory. When a grocery refrigeration system goes down or a dock overflows, our trailers keep the cold chain intact until things are back online.
Film, TV, and production
Utah’s film and TV industry stays busy thanks to the state’s production incentive and the Sundance-adjacent ecosystem. Location catering and on-set cold storage need refrigeration that doesn’t depend on a building, and remote canyon and desert shoots especially benefit from a self-contained trailer that runs on its own power. We stage units at back-lot and on-location sites so the catering team has real cold storage wherever the shoot lands.
Festivals, rodeos, and outdoor events
The Utah State Fairpark on North 1000 West hosts the Utah State Fair every September and the Days of ’47 Rodeo, billed as the world’s only gold-medal rodeo, July 21 through 25 in 2026. Both bring dozens of food trucks, concession operators, and vendors who need on-site frozen and refrigerated storage. Delta Center downtown runs Utah Jazz games, Utah Mammoth hockey, and a concert calendar dated into late 2026, all generating concession surges and touring-act hospitality needs. Outdoor events in high-desert heat need cold storage that sits on the grounds, away from any fixed walk-in. Our trailers go where the crowd is.
Weddings, catering, and banquets
Wasatch Front venues, Park City resort-area events, and backyard estate receptions all need on-site cold storage for cakes, flowers, beverages, and prepped food. Banquet caterers staging food for hundreds need cold holding well beyond a venue’s built-in capacity. A 6’x16′ parked at the service entrance turns any room or open-air site into a kitchen with real refrigeration behind it.
Biotech, medical, and pharma cold-chain
The University of Utah, U of U Health, and Huntsman Cancer Institute in Research Park sit at the center of Utah’s life-sciences cluster, alongside BioUtah members in pharma and diagnostics. When a lab cooler fails, a facility moves, or a power event hits, these operations need backup refrigeration for samples, reagents, vaccines, and clinical supplies. Our units hold any setpoint from 0 to 50 degrees, which covers a wide range of refrigerated medical and research loads.
Construction and facility build-outs
Downtown high-rise and mixed-use construction, plus the Power District and ballpark development west of downtown, generate jobsite cold-storage needs. During restaurant and grocery tenant build-outs, our trailers bridge the months between breaking ground and a working permanent walk-in. A trailer keeps worker catering and staged perishables cold while the fixed refrigeration gets installed.
LDS Trek and church programs
Utah has a demand segment most metros don’t: youth pioneer Trek reenactments, large ward and stake gatherings, and summer camps that stage bulk perishables in remote areas. These programs need cold storage that runs off a generator or a single outlet at a campsite or staging field, far from any building. Our trailers are built for exactly that kind of off-grid, plug-and-hold job.
Picking the right size for the job
The 6’x8′ (268 ft³) handles a single kitchen’s overflow or a small catering run. The 6’x12′ (416 ft³) covers most restaurants and mid-size events. The 6’x16′ (564 ft³, 6,690 lb payload) is the one for full catering operations, grocery dock backups, and convention-scale loads. Every unit adjusts from 0°F to 50°F, so you can run it as a freezer one week and a walk-in cooler the next.
Not sure which fits? Call us at (385) 786-8833 and tell us the job. We’ve staged trailers at every kind of Salt Lake City site there is, and we’ll size it right the first time.
Salt Lake City weddings and events run hot in summer. July highs in the valley routinely climb into the mid-90s and frequently break 100°F, and the high-desert solar load punishes any cold storage that isn’t built for it. Throw a wedding, a corporate gala, or a fairground event into that, and the food and beverage logistics get serious fast. KryoFridge keeps it all cold, the champagne, the wedding cake, and everything in between, with refrigerated, freezer, and walk-in cold storage trailers that hold steady when the venue’s built-in coolers tap out.
We run three sizes: the 6’x8′ (268 ft³, 3,000 lb payload), the 6’x12′ (416 ft³, 4,300 lb payload), and the 6’x16′ (564 ft³, 6,690 lb payload). Each adjusts from 0°F to 50°F and runs on a standard 110V 20-amp circuit, so it drops into almost any Sugar House backyard, downtown ballroom dock, or Park City estate venue without a special hookup.
Why event cold storage matters more here
Food safety isn’t optional, and a high-desert summer makes it harder. Dairy, seafood, and proteins need consistent refrigeration or they turn fast. Our trailers hold the temperature you set so the catering team isn’t babysitting ice and hoping for the best. Beverages are the other half of the job. A Wasatch Front reception goes through serious volumes of wine, sparkling cider, beer, and cocktails, and a 6’x16′ chills enough to keep a 400-guest bar stocked and cold all night. Utah’s mixed crowds often run dry and full bars side by side, and a single trailer holds both without a squeeze.
Then there’s dessert. Buttercream cakes, gelato bars, and plated desserts soften in a warm room. We hold them at exactly the temperature they need until service, so what comes out of the trailer looks like what the pastry chef built.
Catering flexibility for complex menus
Big Salt Lake City events rarely run one simple menu. You’ve got pre-prepped dishes, on-site cooking stations, and multiple service points spread across a ballroom or fairground. A refrigerated trailer parked near the action means chefs aren’t running back to a distant kitchen between courses. Pre-plated dishes hold until they’re called. Ingredients stay close to the line. And when you’ve got food stations scattered across a property, we can stage a trailer to feed each one.
Outdoor and canyon venues
Outdoor weddings and receptions are everywhere along the Wasatch Front, from Park City resort lawns to canyon estates and Salt Lake Valley garden venues. The catch is that beautiful open-air sites rarely have the kitchen infrastructure to match. Our trailers bring the refrigeration to the site so the caterer can run a full menu instead of a limited one. The self-contained design means you’re not depending on the venue’s stressed HVAC or a single overloaded outlet.
For fairground and arena-scale events like a concession row at the Utah State Fairpark or a concert run at Delta Center, the math is simple. Vendor cold storage has to live on the grounds, and it has to hold in heat that punishes equipment. Our trailers are built for exactly that.
Utah-specific event demand
This valley has event categories you won’t find in most metros. LDS ward and stake gatherings, youth Trek reenactments, and large summer-camp programs stage bulk perishables in remote staging fields, often with nothing but a generator and a single circuit. Reception receptions at temple-adjacent venues and reunion-scale family gatherings push cold-storage needs past what a home kitchen or a small hall can hold. Our trailers handle the off-grid version of the job as easily as the downtown-ballroom version.
Built tough, hygienic, and quiet
Each trailer uses one-piece fiberglass construction with 4-inch insulated walls rated R-28, 54-inch reinforced doors, and pallet-duty floors that take a loaded pallet jack. The interior carries an antimicrobial gel coating, which matters when you’re storing food for hundreds of guests. The all-electric refrigeration runs clean and quiet, so a trailer humming behind a wedding tent won’t drown out the toast.
Fast delivery and around-the-clock support
Utah events change on a dime. A guest count jumps, a second bar gets added, a heat wave rolls in. We deliver fast across Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Sandy, West Jordan, Murray, and South Salt Lake, often same day, and we’re reachable 24/7 if something shifts the night before. Your driver sets the unit up, walks your crew through the controls, and we’re a phone call away through the whole event.
Planning a wedding, a trade-show afterparty, or a fairground vendor row? Tell us the guest count and the venue and we’ll size the trailer right. Call (385) 786-8833 or request a quote online and lock in your dates.
When a walk-in dies at 2am or the grid drops during a 100°F afternoon, you don’t have days to figure out cold storage. You have minutes before product starts turning. KryoFridge runs 24/7 emergency reefer and freezer trailer delivery across the Salt Lake Valley, with units that pull down to 0°F and hold it through both a high-desert summer and a sub-freezing winter night. Here’s how that lifeline works when things go sideways.
Walk-in failures and refrigeration breakdowns
This is our most common emergency call. A compressor seizes, a refrigerant line leaks, or a condenser quits under load, and suddenly a downtown kitchen or a Sugar House restaurant is staring at thousands of dollars of perishables with nowhere to put them. Repairs aren’t instant. A failed walk-in can stay down for days while parts come in. We bridge that gap, dropping a refrigerated trailer at your dock so nothing spoils while the techs work. The same goes for grocery refrigeration racks. When a system goes down at a Smith’s or Harmons store, or at a distribution dock, our trailers keep the cold chain intact.
Summer heat and compressor strain
High-desert heat is a demand driver all by itself. Salt Lake City summers push July highs into the mid-90s and past 100°F, with intense solar load on every rooftop unit in the valley. That heat overworks commercial walk-in compressors, and overworked compressors fail, usually on the hottest afternoon of the year when restaurants, grocers, and events need the most cold storage. When a box gives out in the middle of that, a trailer holds the product cold while the repair gets sorted, and it does it parked in direct sun.
Winter outages and ice storms
Salt Lake City winters bring sub-freezing days, valley inversions, and ice storms that knock out power. A power outage takes fixed refrigeration dark, and an extended one means total loss for a grocer or restaurant running on a walk-in unless there’s backup cold storage on site. Our trailers hold any setpoint from 0 to 50 degrees regardless of how cold or warm it is outside, so a unit parked in a December storm keeps frozen inventory frozen and chilled product chilled straight through the outage. Pair one with generator power and the product survives the whole event.
Power outages and infrastructure failures
Outages don’t only come from weather. Equipment faults, accidents, and grid stress all knock out refrigeration without warning. For grocery stores, restaurants, and any operation running on a walk-in, an extended outage means total loss unless there’s backup cold storage on site. We stage trailers as that backup, often within a couple hours of the call, so the product survives the outage instead of the dumpster.
Medical and pharmaceutical cold-chain
Salt Lake City hospitals, University of Utah Research Park labs, and pharmacies store vaccines, medications, and temperature-sensitive product that can’t tolerate a warm refrigerator, especially during a power event. When a medical-grade unit fails or a facility loses power, our trailers provide backup cold storage at the precise refrigerated temperatures these products require. It’s a quieter use case than a downtown kitchen, but when it comes up, the stakes are high and the response has to be fast.
Disaster relief and community support
When a larger emergency hits the valley, relief operations need cold storage for food, water, and supplies, often somewhere a fixed walk-in doesn’t reach. Cooling and warming centers set up during extreme-weather events need supplies on hand. Our mobile units go wherever the staging area is, providing safe cold storage for perishables and essential goods when the normal infrastructure is stretched thin or offline.
What makes our trailers ready for emergencies
The fleet runs all-electric refrigeration on a standard 110V 20-amp circuit, with no fuel to source mid-crisis. One-piece fiberglass construction, 4-inch R-28 insulated walls, and 54-inch reinforced doors mean the box holds its temperature whether it’s parked in direct desert sun or a freezing storm. The antimicrobial gel coating keeps the interior safe for food and medical product alike. And the 0°F to 50°F range means one trailer covers everything frozen inventory, chilled produce, and refrigerated medical storage.
Why speed is the whole game
In an emergency, response time is everything. We keep trailers staged across the valley and dispatch around the clock, so we can reach a site in Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Sandy, West Jordan, Murray, or South Salt Lake fast when the call comes in. Our drivers handle delivery and setup so the unit is cold and running quickly, not sitting on a trailer in your lot waiting for someone to figure it out.
If your walk-in just went down or you’re staring at a heat-driven or winter outage, don’t wait for product to turn. Call (385) 786-8833 anytime, day or night, and we’ll get a trailer to you.
KryoFridge Salt Lake City Frequently Asked Questions
Fast. We run 24/7 emergency dispatch and keep trailers staged across the Salt Lake Valley, so we can often reach a Main Street restaurant dock or a West Valley City grocery store the same day, frequently within a couple hours of your call. If your walk-in just failed, phone (385) 786-8833 and we’ll roll.
Yes. Walk-in failures during a high-desert heat wave are our most common emergency call. We’ll get a refrigerated or freezer trailer to your downtown, 9th & 9th, or Sugar House location the same day so your product stays cold while your repair tech works, and a failed box can stay down for days, not hours.
It can. Every trailer adjusts from 0°F up to 50°F, so the same unit runs as a true freezer for proteins and ice cream or as a walk-in cooler for produce, flowers, and beverages. That range is why one trailer covers a summer overflow and a winter frozen-inventory backup.
Yes. The trailers use 4-inch R-28 insulated walls and one-piece fiberglass construction that holds a setpoint whether it’s parked in 100°F July sun or a sub-freezing December storm. The unit maintains any temperature from 0°F to 50°F regardless of the ambient swing outside.
Each unit runs on a standard 110/120V 20-amp dedicated circuit within 100 feet, so most downtown kitchens, venues, and stores power it with no special hookup. For remote canyon sites, fairground rows, or outage backup, we can pair a trailer with generator power. Just ask when you book.
For a single kitchen’s overflow or a small catering run, the 6’x8′ (268 ft³) usually does it. Mid-size restaurants and events fit the 6’x12′ (416 ft³). Convention-scale or multi-day Salt Palace catering loads call for the 6’x16′ (564 ft³). Tell us the head count and we’ll size it.
Yes. Our trailers fit a standard parking spot and load through swing-open rear doors, so they slot into an alley or loading area behind a Main Street or Sugar House kitchen. Tell us about access and clearance when you book and we’ll plan the placement to fit your site.
We do. We stage trailers for trade-show catering at the Salt Palace, concession surges at Delta Center, and food-vendor rows at the Utah State Fairpark. Your driver delivers, positions, and sets up the unit on site so your in-house coolers aren’t crowded.
Absolutely. Fairpark concession operators and food trucks rent our trailers every season, including for the Days of ’47 Rodeo in late July and the Utah State Fair in September. A 6’x8′ or 6’x12′ holds a single booth’s frozen and refrigerated product all run.
Yes. Weddings, galas, and resort-area events are a core part of our work. We deliver to Park City lawns, canyon estates, and Salt Lake Valley garden venues, and a 6’x16′ keeps cakes, flowers, proteins, and a full bar cold for a 400-guest reception. Request a quote with your dates.
It can. When a Smith’s, Harmons, or independent store loses a rack or remodels a section, our reefer trailers hold the displaced product. For a pharmacy or cold case, we hold the precise refrigerated temperature the inventory needs until the fixed system is back online.
We rent daily, weekly, and monthly. A weekend wedding or a single fair booth prices at a daily rate, while a grocery remodel or a construction build-out gets better weekly and monthly pricing. Call (385) 786-8833 and we’ll price your exact window.
Yes. Downtown high-rise projects and restaurant or grocery tenant build-outs rent our trailers to bridge the months between breaking ground and a working permanent walk-in. The trailer keeps worker catering and staged perishables cold while the fixed refrigeration gets installed.
We do. Productions filming around Salt Lake City and on remote canyon or desert shoots rent our trailers for location catering and on-set cold storage. The self-contained, all-electric design works where there’s no building kitchen to rely on.
Yes, within the refrigerated range. Our units hold any setpoint from 0°F to 50°F, which covers many lab, pharma, and research loads (not ultra-low freezers). When a Research Park cooler fails or a lab relocates, we provide backup cold storage at the temperature the samples or reagents require.
We cover the whole Salt Lake Valley: Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Sandy, West Jordan, Murray, and South Salt Lake, plus regular runs down to Provo and out across the Wasatch Front. Tell us your address and dates and we’ll confirm delivery and setup.
